"When you don’t realize you’re being brainwashed, you don’t realize what you’re missing until you see the other side of it.” Miriam Haart grew up in an ultraorthodox Jewish community that convinced her girls should not be educated or have ambition beyond the home. She always felt different and guilty for not fitting in so she started questioning the social norms of her religious community. In this episode, Lisa Carmen Wang interviews Miriam about how she broke free of religious brainwashing, guilt, and shame to live her truth personally, socially, and sexually. Miriam currently stars in the top 10 hit series, ‘My Unorthodox Life’ on Netflix and just graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Computer Science.
